Everblades Weekly - Blades Set to Finish off Regular Season with Showdown Vs. South Carolina

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades finished off last week's action with a 1-2-0 mark in three games against the Wheeling Nailers at Germain Arena. The Blades also locked up a playoff spot in the 2011Kelly Cup Playoffs with some help on Sunday. In their game's this week, the Everblades dropped a 3-1 decision to the Nailers on Wednesday, then bounced back with a 3-2 shootout victory on Friday night. In the finale, the Nailers blanked the Everblades 5-0 on Saturday night. Overall the Everblades enter this week with a record of 36-29-4 (76 pts., T-2nd South Division / T-4th Eastern Conference).

Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday, March 30, April 1 & 2 vs. South Carolina Wed & Fri: 7:30 p.m. /Sat: 7:00 p.m.

GAME NOTES: The Everblades finish off the regular season with three big games against the South Carolina Stingrays at Germain Arena. Even though both teams have locked up a playoff spot, the game's could be a preview of a potential first round match up and could determine the final seeding. The games are the final three of 13 between the clubs this year and are the final three of five at Germain Arena. Overall this year the Blades are 4-4-2 vs. South Carolina and are 1-1-0 at home vs. the Stingrays. All-time the Everblades are 59-38-15 vs. South Carolina and are 28-21-7 all-time at home vs. the Stingrays. South Carolina enters this week's action tied in points with the Everblades and Wheeling Nailers for fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 35-28-6 (76 pts). On the road this season the Stingrays are 15-16-2.

Special Teams Breakdown: Entering this week, here's a look at the Everblades power play and penalty killing: On the power play the Everblades rank 10th in the ECHL at 18.4 % (63-of-342)...at home the Blades are ranked 12th in the league at 17.1 % (28-of-164)...on the road the Everblades rank 7th at 19.7 % (35-of-178). On the penalty kill the Everblades find themselves 1st in the ECHL at 85.6 % (274-of-320)...at home the Everblades enter the week ranked 7th at 84.2 % (133-of-158)...on the road the Blades are currently 1st at 87.0 % (141-of-162).

13 for 13!: The Everblades kept their streak alive of qualifying for the playoffs in each of their 13 seasons following Cincinnati's 4-3 win over the Toledo Walleye on Sunday afternoon. With Toledo losing that game, Wheeling and South Carolina also both locked up spots in the post-season and now six of the eight playoff teams in the Eastern Conference are set. The final two spots will be decided between Elmira, Cincinnati and Toledo. Although they are in, the Everblades still won't know their first round opponent until possibly this weekend. Roster Moves: The Everblades added another player to their roster today signing defenseman Evan Stephens out of Dartmouth College. Stephens wrapped up his four-year collegiate career with 20 points (3g, 17a) in 34 games with the Big Green. Overall the 23-year-old Bresser, Michigan native posted 81 points in 128 games at Dartmouth from 2007-11.

League Leaders: Coming into this week Everblades forward Alex Imbeault is currently fourth in the league in goals scored with 35 and is tied for the league lead with his 15 power play goals... defenseman Bobby Raymond is currently second in the ECHL in plus/minus with a +25 rating...goaltender Bobby Goepfert is now ranked ninth in the league with his 2.73 goals against average and is ranked fourth in the league with his 23 wins.

Who's Hot: Here's a look at who's currently riding hot streaks. F Alex Imbeault has picked up points in 11 of his last 14 games (8g, 11a...F Matt Beca has recorded points in 11 of the last 15 games (9g, 8a)...F Ross Carlson has notched a point in seven of the last eight games (1g, 7a) and in 14 of his last 18 games (3g, 14a)...G Bobby Goepfert is 4-1-0 in his last six appearances with one shutout.

Single-Season Team Records: A few players on this year's squad are approaching Everblade all-time single-season records with their numbers. F Francis Lemieux is eighth overall in single-season history for points in one year with 73 and is ninth all-time in assists with his 44...F Alex Imbeault is now fourth all-time for goals in a season with his 35 and is second all time in power play goals in one year with 15...With his start last night, G Bobby Goepfert moved into fourth for games played with 42 and is now tied for sixth with 23 wins. Goepfert's 1,220 saves are now third all-time for a single season.
