Toledo Walleye News Release
(Toledo, OH) - The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce the completion and release of the official Toledo Walleye iPhone app. The app is free to download and is available now at iTunes.
The Walleye iPhone app will allow fans yet another way to stay on top of all the latest Walleye happenings! Fans will be able to buy tickets, check out the Walleye roster, track stats, browse upcoming promotions and much, much more...all from their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad!
The app was developed by Critical Technologies Group, LLC. For more information, please visit www.ctgweb.biz.
Scott Davis of Critical Technologies Group, LLC also created a similar app for the Toledo Mud Hens in October of 2010.
Since that time, the Mud Hens have achieved the following:
-Most downloaded Triple-A app for the off-season
-Over a thousand downloads total
-25,000 total user interactions since November
Davis said the following:
Regarding fan response: "The fan response has been great for the minor league teams with mobile apps. We are seeing more and more minor league sports teams interested in a mobile presence. The fans love the ability to take the team on the road with them wherever they go. They can stay up to date on the latest headlines, social media and game updates anywhere in the world. It's extremely powerful for the fans and the team."
Regarding mobile: "Mobile apps are quickly becoming a part of our daily lives. Five years ago only a handful of people were using smart phones with web surfing capabilities. Now we are in our kitchens with recipe apps, editing spreadsheets during board meetings and following our favorite teams on the go. In the next few years the mobile space is going to continue to evolve to the point where we are throwing credit cards out the window and paying for everything on our mobile devices. The sky is the limit. The question shouldn't be "if" but "when" your company will adopt mobile."
Walleye Manager of Online Marketing Nathan Steinmetz said, "We're very excited to present this free app to Walleye fans. We're always looking to find innovative ways to keep our fans informed of the latest news about the hockey club and the organization. The app will also act as a great resource for fans attending our games - with info on the Huntington Center, up-to-date stats, roster info, and more."
The Walleye are the first ECHL team, and one of only a handful of minor league hockey teams, to have their own iPhone app. Apps for the Android and Blackberry mobile devices are currently in development.
