Tochkin, Siemens Shut Out Broncos, 6-0

Swift Current, SK - Kellan Tochkin had a four point night including three straight goals for the Silvertips to earn a natural hat trick and lead Everett to a 6-0 victory over the Swift Current Broncos. Tochkin's hat trick was the 32nd in Silvertips history and gives the forward two career WHL hat tricks, both of them coming only 14 days apart. Luke Siemens stopped all 39 shots faced to collect his first WHL shutout in just his fifth career start. Tyler Maxwell (1G, 1A), Jari Erricson (1G, 1A) and Manraj Hayer (2A) had two points each in a great effort Friday night. Cody Fowlie rounded out the scoring for Everett. Four years ago, when Everett traveled to Swift Current, they also defeated the Broncos 6-0.

Maxwell got the scoring started for Everett at 8:57 of the first period. Maxwell beat Swift Current goaltender Mark Friesen on a wrap around attempt to give Maxwell his team leading 19th goal of the season. Fowlie made the score 2-0 at 12:43 when a shot from just inside the right circle found the back of the net. Siemens came up big in net by helping kill off a 5 on 3 Bronco power play at the end of the first period.

Tochkin scored his first goal of the night on the power play at 4:47 of the second period. Tochkin scored from the high slot going top shelf. Everett increased their lead to 4-0 when Tochkin scored his second goal at 18:32 on an identically placed shot as his first.

Swift Current pulled Friesen after two periods in favor of Derek Tendler. Tochkin finished off his natural hat trick at 8:27. Scott MacDonald made a beautiful backhanded saucer pass to Tochkin before walking around Tendler for the hat trick. Erricson finished off the scoring with a great toe drag move that went top shelf at 19:46 to conclude a 6-0 victory.

This brings the 'Tips record to 12-12-1-3 with 28 points in 28 games played. Everett goes on an Eastern Conference road trip starting this Friday, December 3rd with a 5:05 pm start against the Swift Current Broncos.
