Tonight's home game vs the Kelowna Rockets will include the fith annual Teddy Bear / Toque Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals as well as toques and throw them on the ice after the Bruins score their first goal.
The items will be collected and donated to Chilliwack Community Services.
The Chilliwack Bruins host the Kelowna Rockets tonight at Prospera Centre. Game time is 7:30pm. It's the third of eight meetings this season between the two teams. The Rockets were the winners in each of the first two meetings, scoring wins of 4-3 in Chilliwack and 9-3 in Kelowna.
The Bruins are 2-2-0-1 through the first five games of their six game home stand that ends tonight. On home ice this season Chilliwack is 7-7-1-1.
The Bruins last two games were against the top two teams in the Western Hockey League. A week ago tonight, the Bruins got two goals and two assists from Kevin Sundher in a 7-2 home ice win over the Portland Winterhawks. Wednesday night, the Bruins were defeated 7-3 on home ice by the Saskatoon Blades.
The Rockets are currently tied for second in the BC Division with the Vancouver Giants. Both teams have 30 points, two behind the division leading Prince George Cougars. The Bruins are tied with the Kamloops Blazers in fourth spot in the division with 27 points. Chilliwack has played 25 games, two fewer than the Cougars, Blazers and Giants and one less than the Rockets.
After starting the season with just four wins in their first 14 games, the Rockets have won 11 of their last 12 games. The Rockets most recent game was a 3-2 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds Wednesday in Kelowna.
