
Tobs Sink Sharks to End Streak

WILSON, N.C. - The Wilson Tobs scored 12 runs on Saturday night at Historic Fleming Stadium to defeat the Wilmington Sharks and snap its six game losing streak with a 12-2 victory in front of 1,046 fans at Historic Fleming Stadium.
The Tobs (4-7) scored in every inning but two as they scored three runs in the fifth and seventh inning as they socked 13 hits on the night, five coming off starting pitcher Aaron Hoover (L, 1-1) who allowed three runs over his two plus innings of work.
Joe Costigan provided the offensive spark for the Tabbaconists going 4-for-5 on the night with four RBIs and three runs scored.
Wilmington (7-5) could not slove Brett Ash (W, 1-1) as the right-hander from Wasburn worked eight strong innings, scatting six hits to help propel his squad to the 12-2 victory.
Wilson will be back in action on Monday night at 7:05 when they hit the road to battle the Petersburg Generals. The Tobs return to Historic Fleming Stadium on Tuesday night as the Edenton Steamers makes its first trips to Wilson this season.
The Wilson Tobs are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both the players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 930 alumni drafted and 51 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and CY Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
