Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

The Fayetteville SwampDogs saw their five-game win streak come to an end on Saturday at the hands of a 5-3 loss the Florence Redwolves,

Florence got on the board first in the third inning of play when a costly error defensively ultimately saw the Dogs fall into a 2-0 deficit.

Fayetteville's Mike Tauchman (Bradley) knotted things up in the bottom half of the frame, when he picked up his seventh and eighth runs-batted-in of the season with a bases-loaded shot that scored two.

The Redwolves countered with two more runs in the fifth, as the first two Florence hitters reached base and came around to score in the inning.

Florence plated one more run in the sixth to take a three-run lead, making it 5-2 in their favor.

The Dogs once again answered, as Reed Harper (Austin Peay) led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk and promptly stole second to put himself in scoring position. Joel Thys (Sonoma State) drove him in to make it a one-run game at that juncture.

Neither team would score again as the 5-3 tally held as the final score, ending what was a five-game winning streak for Fayetteville.
