July 19, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Wilson Tobs News Release
WILSON, N.C. - Harry Slade delivered a two out, two-run triple in the fourth inning to send the Wilson Tobs to its third straight win as they defeated the Petersburg Generals 3-2 on Thursday night in front of 1,302 fans at Historic Fleming Stadium.
Wilson (17-28, 8-9) trailed by a run in the fourth inning before they turned the game around with some two strike magic. Collins Cuthrell singled earlier in the frame before Zack Lee coaxed a two-out walk ahead of Slade who drove home a pair with the game-winning triple to the right center gap.
That one-run lead was more than enough for Brent Bonvillian (W, 1-1) who worked seven innings for the Tobs and scattered three hits while allowing two unearned runs and fanning five.
Petersburg (20-25, 6-11) had their chance in the ninth inning as two men were able to reach against Aaron LaBrie (S, 1) but the Generals could not scratch as Grant Zawadzki grounded to short to truncate the game and give Wilson a 3-2 victory.
The Tobs and Generals will renew their vows for the final time this season on Friday night at the Petersburg Sports Complex. First pitch is slated for 7:05.
