PETERSBURG, V.A. (July 8, 2011) - In a rain-shortened six-inning game the Wilson Tobs (17-17) used one big hit to defeat the Petersburg Generals (4-30), 4-0 at the Petersburg Sports Complex on Friday night.

It was the long ball that got the Tobs on the board in the top of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded and no one out, DH Steve Nikorak sent a 2-1 pitch from RHP Alex Borgan sailing over the left - center field wall for the first grand slam of the season for Wilson. Borgan (1-4) took the loss and was replaced after the inning having given up five hits and four walks while striking out six.

For the Tobs RHP Gil Walker (3-0) got the complete game victory. He surrendered just two hits and one walk while striking out five to keep the Generals off the board. The win snapped a four game losing streak for Wilson.

The Tobs return home to Fleming Stadium Saturday, July 9 to take on the Thomasville HiToms. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. On the hill for Wilson will be RHP Clay Murphy (1-1), making his fifth start of the summer. The Tobs are asking all fans to wear black to the game tomorrow to blackout the HiToms. Also, 16 ounce drafts of bud light will be available in the beer garden for just $2.00. For tickets call the Tobs box office at 252-291-TOBS.
