HAMPTON, V.A. - Everything went the HiToms way on Friday night as they banged out 13 hits and scored a season high of 18 runs as they downed the Peninsula Pilots 18-4 at War Memorial Stadium to win their sixth game in their last seven chances.
The HiToms (6-1) drew first blood in the second inning as they struck for five runs against Chad O'Connor (L, 2-1) as the big hit of the inning came from Brock Hebert who launched the first HiToms grand slam of the season with a blast over the wall in left. Earlier in the inning, Tanner Mathis singled home Stephen Carmon for the first run of the game, and it was 5-0 HiToms after the top of the second.
After Peninsula (3-3) cut the lead to four runs at 5-1 against Austin Moyer (W, 4-2) the HiToms opened the game open in the top of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Hebert picked up his fifth RBI of the game as he was walked to bring Zack Briggs home. After a pass ball brought Mathis in, Jacob Rogers delivered a two-run single to make it an eight run Thomasville advantage.
The HiToms weren't done scoring by a long shot as they put up four runs in the fourth, three runs in the fifth and sixth, two in the seventh and a run in the eighth inning as they picked up an 18-4 over Peninsula.
James Harris had a big night at the plate as he collected four RBI on a pair of doubles, and a two-run home run as the Tommies cruised to the easy win.
