Titans Sign Howard, Deschenes Recalled

TRENTON, NJ (January 14, 2005) –The Trenton Titans announced that have agreed to terms with free agent defenseman Steve Howard. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 26-year old native of Flint, Michigan had spent 26 games this season with the Huntsville Hovac of the Southern Professional Hockey League, registering 2 goals, 13 assists and 12 penalty minutes.

In 2003-04 Howard split the season between the Macon Trax and Miami Manatees of the WHA2 and the Huntsville Channel Cats of the Southeaster Hockey League. Howard make his Titans debut this evening against the Peoria Rivermen..

In a separate transaction, left wing Nick Deschenes was recalled on Thursday by the Titans' AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.

Deschenes, in his second professional season, has tallied 9 points (3g, 6a) and 16 penalty minutes in 21 games for the Titans. A graduate of Yale University, Deschenes split last season between the Titans and the Phantoms.
