Salmon Kings sign first International

Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Salmon Kings have looked across the Atlantic for the first time acquiring skilled Russian right winger Alexei Glukhov. Glukhov will join the Salmon Kings on their current road trip to Las Vegas and see his first action on Friday.

Glukhov was selected in the 9th round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, 286th overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

"Last year Glukhov played as a nineteen year old in the Russian Elite League with highly talented players. He is a skilled offensive threat with great speed," said General Manager and Head Coach Bryan Maxwell.

The Salmon Kings have lost eight straight since the New Year and Maxwell has aggressively added players in an attempt to fill the holes on a roster that currently has six players sidelined with injuries.

Glukhov is the latest acquisition and will help the Salmon Kings put the puck in the net, something that the team has had trouble doing of late.

The Salmon Kings are in Las Vegas to play the Wranglers on Friday before returning to Long Beach to play back to back against the Ice Dogs on Saturday and Sunday. Victoria returns home to play Long Beach on Tuesday January 18, 2005.

Tickets are available at www.selectyourtickets.com or by phone at 250-220-7777.
