Titans Edge Rivermen in Shootout, 4-3

TRENTON, NJ (March 30, 2005) – Scott Bertoli's shootout goal sealed a 4-3 Trenton Titans victory over the Peoria Rivermen in front of 4,518 fans at Sovereign Bank Arena.

The Rivermen shot out to an early lead when Kris Kasper collected a Trenton turnover and netted an unassisted goal at 4:34.

Steve Munn tied the game for the Titans when point shot beat screened Rivermen goalie Aflie Michaud at 6:15 forhis first goal of the season.

The Titans added two more tallies in the second period. Rick Kowalsky scored his 18th goal of the season at 8:05 to give the Titans their first lead of the game.

Les Haggett's second professional goal, at 14:16, extended the Titans lead to 3-1. Brent Robinson, Haggett's teammate at Brown, logged his 32nd assist of the year on the play. Kowalsky earned his second point of the evening with the other assist.

The Rivermen, however, mounted a comeback in the third. Forward Brian McCullough scored his 36th goal of the year – good for second in the ECHL – when he beat Andrew Allen with a top shelf wrist shot. Then, with an extra skater on the ice, Ed Hill tied the game at 18:43 with his 6th goal of the year.

Neither team would score again in regulation, or overtime, sending the game to sudden-death shootout where the Titans beat Peoria goalie Alfie Michaud three times on four shots.

Bertoli's shootout goal, the Titans second, turned out to the game-winner.

Trenton goalie Andrew Allen stopped 33 of 36 shots in the contest – including three of four in the shootout - to earn his 25 win of the season.
