Jokila, Ayers Lead Bombers To Win In Toledo

Toledo, OH – The Dayton Bombers dumped the Toledo Storm, 5-3, in front of 4,018 at The Toledo Sports Arena in Toledo, Ohio Wednesday night. Janne Jokila recorded two goals and one assist and mike Ayers recorded 53 saves in goal for the Bombers.

The Bombers scored three first period goals on 15 shots against Storm goaltender Scott Fankouser. TODD ALEXANDER opened the scoring with his 12th goal of the season at 6:47. But just 9 seconds later, Steve Slonina tied the game, 1-1, at 6:56. After a 5-minute slashing penalty was given to Steve Dix, JANNE JOKILA buried a shorthanded goal to give the Bombers a 2-1 lead at 12:10. Jokila scored his second of the night, and 23rd goal of the season, on the powerplay at 18:51 and Dayton led 3-1 after the first period.

The Storm pulled within one, 3-2, when Todd Jackson scored his 11th goal of the season at 1:29 of the second period. Then, Jokila set-up TYLER SCOTT for his 5th goal, and the Bombers led 4-2 after 40 minutes.

Todd Jackson's 2nd goal of the night made it 4-3, but an empty net goal from Aaron Foster sealed the 5-3 win. Dayton finished the game with only 12 skaters after a game misconduct to Steve Dix in the first period, and an injury to Matt Herneisen in the second.
