Trenton Titans News Release
TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers, are proud to announce that Jacob Cepis and Shane Harper have been named co-winners of the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week award for March 18-24.
The two combined for 27 points with Cepis scoring five goals and adding nine assists and Harper tallying seven goals and six assists in four games last week.
The week opened with Harper recording an assist in a 7-1 loss at Elmira on Wednesday. Harper recorded a hat trick, including a power-play and shorthanded goal, while Cepis had three points (1g-2a) in a 5-2 win against Wheeling on Friday. In an 8-2 victory over the Nailers on Saturday, Cepis set an ECHL season-high with six points (2g-4a) while Harper notched his second straight hat trick and added a pair of assists. On Sunday, Cepis recorded five points (2g-3a) and Harper tallied four points (1g-3a) in an 8-2 win at Elmira.
Cepis leads the Titans, and is fourth in the ECHL, with 72 points (23g-49a) in 63 games. The 25-year-old has 117 points (43g-74a) in 120 career ECHL games with Trenton and Idaho.
Harper has 22 points (11g-11a) in 12 games with the Titans and has added eight points (4g-4a) in 42 games with Adirondack of the American Hockey League. The 24-year-old has 67 points (33g-34a) in 60 career ECHL games with Trenton and Greenville and 39 points (19g-20a) in 137 career games with Adirondack.
The two become the first players in the ECHL since the 2007-08 season to be named co-players of the week.
On behalf of Jacob Cepis and Shane Harper, a case of pucks will be donated to a Trenton youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 27,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
With this award Cepis and Harper become the fourth and fifth Titans to be honored by the league. Phil DeSimone (now at Albany-AHL) on December 17-23, 2012 and Stephen Schultz (Feb 18-24) each were named Player of the Week. Marcel Noebels (now with Adirondack-AHL) was the Rookie of the Month for December
The Trenton Titans returned in the 2011-12 hockey season after a five year hiatus and boasted a 26.1% increase in attendance over the previous year, the largest of any team in the (then) 20-team ECHL.
