Trenton Titans News Release

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans, members of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers, have announced that Jason Akeson has been recalled by Philadelphia to their AHL affiliate Adirondack. The Flyers have also assigned center Andrew Johnston and defenseman Matt Konan to Trenton from Adirondack. In a separate move, the Titans have released forward Pier-Olivier Morin.

Akeson, who led the Phantoms in scoring last year with 55 points (14 G/41 A), played in all 14 Titans games this season. He had two goals, seven assists (including one Saturday in Elmira) and a -4 rating in Trenton.

Johnston is a 6-foot-1, 178-pound rookie center from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, who played 10 games with the Phantoms, recording one goal. Last season with his junior team, the Humbolt Broncos of the SJHL, he led his team to the league title scoring 81 points, plus 14 more in the playoffs.

A Tustin, CA, native, Konan has been rehabbing an injury and has yet to make his professional debut. The 6-foot-3, 182-pound defenseman has played the last five seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL, recording career highs in games (72), points (54), goals (9) and assists (45) last year.

Morin appeared in five games for the Titans, getting his first point as a professional with a power play goal on November 10 against Reading. The rookie also had six penalty minutes and a -4 rating.

The Trenton Titans returned in the 2011-12 hockey season after a five year hiatus and boasted a 26.1% increase in attendance over the previous year, the largest of any team in the (then) 20-team ECHL.
