Josh Fleming earned a 43 save shutout in a rather uninspiring effort by the Mooseheads on the road in a 1-0 loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Friday night.

In a game of worst against first, it was the underdogs who came away with the win thanks to a solid performance from their goalie. Fleming was strong although Halifax never mounted any sort of sustained attack like they what they have shown they are capable of throughout the course of the season. Only 13 of the 43 shots were considered dangerous by QMJHL statisticians as the Mooseheads squandered a golden opportunity to take control of the first overall position in the QMJHL standings. A small crowd of just 1,718 were on hand to witness the win at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.

Acadie-Bathurst only needed one goal to win and that's what they got by capitalizing on a late second period power play with Ben Allison netting his 31st goal of the season at the 18:28 mark with Fleming earning an assist along with defenceman Cole Larkin. Brady James wasn't overly busy for the Moose but was great when called upon by stopping 20 of 21 shots.

The Titan were the more physical team in the game with 21 hits compared to just 10 for the Mooseheads and the home team did a good job of sticking to their defensive game plan en route to the upset victory. Mathieu Cataford was handed a five-minute penalty and a game misconduct for checking from behind the Herd in the opening period.

Halifax went 0-5 on the power play while Bathurst scored once in four chances on the man advantage. The loss drops the Mooseheads' record to 44-10-4-3 and out of first place in the overall standings as the Quebec Remparts will jump back into top spot. The road trip will continue again on Sunday in Moncton where Halifax will face the Wildcats at 2pm.

The next Mooseheads home game at Scotiabank Centre is coming up on Wednesday, night when the Herd finish the season series versus the Titan at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now at TicketAtlantic.com.
