FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The TinCaps couldn't get it going offensively as they fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 5-1, Saturday at Parkview Field. Jon Alia went 3-for-4 with Fort Wayne's lone RBI.
Fort Wayne went 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position.
For the second straight night, the Hot Rods jumped ahead in the top of the first. Chris Murrill led off with a single, snapping an 0-for-17 skid, stole second and scored when Tyler Bortnick followed with an RBI single.
In the top of the fourth, Bennett Davis drew a leadoff walk and Kyle Spraker singled. Julio Cedeno then doubled to the wall in left to drive in Davis. Ty Morrison singled to left to make it 3- 0. Fort Wayne LHP Jose De Paula worked out of further trouble to keep it a three-run game.
The Hot Rods kept charging in the fifth. A two-base error put Ryan Wiegand in scoring position for Spraker, who ripped an RBI double to left to push the Hot Rods' advantage to 4-0.
The TinCaps didn't get on the board until the sixth. Nate Freiman drew a two-out walk and Edinson Rincon singled to put runners at the corners. Alia followed, smashing an RBI single to center to make it 4-1.
