
River Bandits earn first win of the second half in an 8-7 walkoff victory

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits fell behind 3-0 early in Saturday's contest and after fighting back they trailed 7-4 heading into the ninth. After a pair of base knocks and a walk the bases came loaded in the ninth. Devin Goodwin hit into a fielder's choice setting the stage for Matt Adams. Adams drove a double into right-center field clearing the bases, bringing Ryan Jackson, Jason Stidham, and Devin Goodwin across the plate which was good for a River Bandits 8-7 walkoff win.
Aaron Terry (3-2) picked up his third win of the season, throwing the final inning and a third for the River Bandits. Terry struck out three and surrendered just one hit in the win. Jorge Rondon went five strong in his eighth start of the season. Rondon was charged with three runs, two earned on three hits and was in-line for the loss until the ninth. Jose Pina (0-1) was charged with his first loss of the season after he allowed five runs, one earned, in just an inning and two thirds on the hill.
In addition to a four-RBI night, Adams drove his eighth homer of the season into the Tiki Porch in right field during the fourth inning as part of his 3-for-5 performance. C.J. Beatty added a trio of base knocks and an RBI in a 3-for-4 effort. Luis Mateo was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Jackson also added a pair of base knocks in a 2-for-4 nigh, while Ryde Rodriguez chipped in with an RBI of his own.
The River Bandits look to take their first series of the second half with a win over Kane County on Sunday night. Quad Cities will send the St. Louis Cardinals number one overall prospect, Shelby Miller (1-3) to face off with Kane County south paw Ian Krol (5-2). The first pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m. with the gates opening at 3:30 p.m. for another U.S. Bank Family Sunday at Modern Woodmen Park.
