LANSING, Mich. - Ryan Tepera tossed seven shutout innings for his seventh victory, and the Lansing Lugnuts (2-0; 38-33) cruised to a 4-1 win over the Dayton Dragons (0-2; 30-41) on Saturday night on Jackson Field.

After losing the first three games of the season in Dayton, the Lugnuts have defeated the Dragons in eight straight contests.

Tepera (7-2) allowed only four singles and a walk, all in the first three innings, in a complete show of mastery. The Texan hurler pulled within one win of the league lead and shrank his ERA to 3.04.

Casey Beck hurled a perfect eighth in relief before Brian Slover gave up an RBI single to Josh Garton with two outs in the ninth to end the shutout.

Kenny Wilson and Sean Ochinko each went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the offensive effort for Lansing. Kevin Nolan added an RBI double to extend his hitting streak to 10 games and Ryan Goins drew a walk to increase his on-base streak to 11 games.

Dayton starter J.C. Sulbaran (3-4) took the loss, reached for seven hits and three runs in his 5 2/3 innings.

The Lugnuts and Dragons play the finale of their three-game series on a 2:05 p.m. Kids Day on Sunday at Cooley Law School Stadium, with Lansing right-hander Ryan Shopshire (4-6, 5.56) facing Dayton right-hander Jacob Johnson (4-4, 4.40).
