SATURDAY NIGHT: The TinCaps lost to the Whitecaps, 3-2. West Michigan built a 3-0 lead with a run in the first and a pair in the fourth. Fort Wayne fought back with a run in the home fourth on a Tirso Ornelas RBI triple to score Jeisson Rosario, who scored again in the sixth after doubling. On the mound, Luis Patiño struck out 7 and didn't walk any in 4 innings of work.

TURN THE PARK PINK: The TinCaps wore pink and white jerseys designed by Vera Bradley on Saturday for Turn the Park Pink Night. The jerseys were auctioned off online at TinCapsJersey.com and raised a total of $5,388.50 for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.

ORNELAS ON BASE: Tirso Ornelas is on a 23-game on-base streak, which is the 2nd longest active streak in the Midwest League, and is the longest such streak for a TinCap this season. (Lake County infielder Tyler Friis is currently on a 28-game streak. The longest in the league this year: 31 games, Michael Beltre, Dayton.) Since May 24, Ornelas has hit .305 with a .414 OBP. He has 6 doubles, 3 triples, 3 homers, and 12 RBIs during the run. Maybe most impressive, he's walked more times (14) than he's struck out (13).

POISED TO BREAK OUT: Jack Suwinski has a BABIP of .258 - the 6th lowest in the MWL. That's Batting Average on Balls in Play. BABIP is often a solid indicator of a player's luck and future performance. So at this point, Suwinski has been unlucky this year. Last year here he had a .302 BABIP. Typically around 30% of all balls in play fall for hits... Meanwhile, defensively, Suwinski has 9 outfield assists - tied for 2nd most in the league. (Lasing's Chavez Young leads the way with 11.)

HOME SWEET HOME: The TinCaps are in the midst of a stretch of 10 consecutive home games. TinCaps are 21-16 at home this season, which includes winning 13 of their last 19 here. Fort Wayne is slashing .262/.344/.369 at home this year compared to .216/.298/.317 on the road. The 'Caps have averaged 4.9 runs per game at home and 3.6 per game on the road, where they are 11-23.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is tied for 5th in runs (45), 8th in walks (39), and 9th in OBP (.388)... Esteury Ruiz 3rd in SB (21).

ADVANCED STATS LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is tied for 6th in Line Drive % (24%) and 10th in BB% (14%)... Tirso Ornelas is 7th lowest in Swing and Miss% (7%).

PADRES ON DECK: Friday, the TinCaps and Padres agreed on a 2-year extension of their Player Development Contract (PDC) through the 2020 season. This will stretch the affiliation between the organizations to 22 years continuing what is already the longest-lasting Minor League Baseball affiliation in San Diego's franchise history. Padres Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller and TinCaps President Mike Nutter held a press conference at Parkview Field on Friday to announce the extension.

BULLPEN BOOMERANG: TinCaps relievers have posted an ERA of 3.17 over the last 51 games. In this time, the 'pen has been led by Travis Radke, Caleb Boushley, Evan Miller, and Ben Sheckler. Through the first 19 games of the year, the bullpen had a 7.47 ERA.
