Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Davenport, IA - The Beloit Snappers scored five runs with two outs in the top of the sixth inning to overtake and pull away from the Quad Cities River Bandits in an 8-2 win on Sunday at Modern Woodmen Park.

The River Bandits scored first, reaching the board in the third inning. Adrian Tovalin opened the inning with a single and was joined on base by Michael Papierski who worked a walk. With two outs, Alfredo Angarita snuck a double down the third base line to drive in a pair and give the Bandits a 2-0 lead.

That lead held until the Snappers broke through in a big way in the sixth. Reliever Carlos Sanabria retired the first two batters of the inning before things took a turn for the worse. The next five hitters in the frame all came up with a hit, including three of the extra-base variety. The run was capped by a Trace Loehr two-run home run to right that put Beloit on top 5-2.

The Snappers kept their foot on the pedal in the seventh inning. Austin Beck started the frame with a single off of Willy Collado. Logan Farrar walked and then another single by Hunter Hargrove loaded the bases. Jesus Lopez drove in a run with a groundball to first to make it 6-2. A wild pitch scored another run and when Papierski's throw sailed over Collado's head at the plate, the runner from second base also scored, stretching the lead to the final margin of 8-2.

The River Bandits were held to just three hits and they did not tally one after the third inning. Beloit was led by Lopez who went 3-5 with two doubles, a triple and an RBI.

Enoli Paredes went 4.2 scoreless innings at the outset of the game, surrendering three hits on three walks with five strikeouts. Sanabria followed by allowing five runs on five hits in 1.0 inning. Collado worked the next 1.1 innings, during which he allowed three runs, two earned, on two hits. The final 2.0 innings were tossed by Brendan Feldmann. The right-hander allowed a pair of hits with a walk and a strikeout.

The River Bandits (1-3, 41-33) will open a new series with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (0-4, 31-42) on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. LHP Parker Mushinski (3-1, 2.90) will be on the hill for the Bandits against RHP Bowden Francis (3-4, 4.92) of the Timber Rattlers.

All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
