COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. - The TinCaps fell in the opener of their final road series of the season, 3-0, against the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers) on Saturday night at Fifth Third Ballpark.

Ryan Weathers started for Fort Wayne (25-36, 58-71), allowing three runs on four hits in four innings pitched. Weathers struck out five batters in a 72-pitch performance.

The Whitecaps (24-37, 45-85) utilized outstanding pitching on their way to victory, as Wilkel Hernandez (6.0 innings), Michael Bienlien (2.0 innings), and Angel Reyes (1.0 innings) combined to shut out the TinCaps while allowing just three hits.

The best chance for Fort Wayne to score came in the eighth, when Ripken Reyes and Kelvin Alarcon singled to put two runners on base with two outs. Yet, a groundout ended the threat and left Reyes and Alarcon on the base paths.

The TinCaps bullpen turned in a strong performance, with Ramon Perez and Franklin Van Gurp each tossing two scoreless innings with four combined strikeouts. Catcher Jose Lezama threw out two attempted base-stealers.
