Lake County Captains News Release

(Eastlake, OH) - Adrian Rodriguez and a pair of Dayton Dragons (27-34, 55-76) relievers combined for a one-hit shutout on Saturday night at Classic Park. Ulysses Cantu tallied the only knock for the Lake County Captains (29-32, 69-61) in a 3-0 loss.

Rodriguez (6-3) spun seven brilliant innings and earned the win. The right-hander retired the first seven men he faced before walking Josh Rolette in the third. Cantu followed with an infield single, but Rodriguez bounced back by setting down the next 11 Captains. After a leadoff walk to Jose Fermin in the seventh, Rodriguez got the next three men to end his night. He struck out five and walked two.

Eddy Demurias pitched a one-two-three eighth and Carlos Machorro nailed down his first save of the year with a perfect ninth, capped by a game-ending strikeout of Fermin.

All three Dayton runs came on two homers in the fourth against Captains starter Ethan Hankins. Juan Martinez led off with a single and Matt Lloyd hit a two-run homer to right. Two batters later, Ernesto Liberatore hit a solo shot to left to push Dayton's lead to 3-0.

Hankins (0-3) took the loss for Lake County. He pitched 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. Hankins struck out six and did not issue a walk.

The Captains suffered their fourth straight loss and will try to rebound on Sunday in game two of their four-game series with Dayton. First pitch at Classic Park is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
