FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Cole Tyrell tripled and homered, but the TinCaps lost to the Dayton Dragons, 8-5, Wednesday at Parkview Field. Dayton scored five runs in the seventh inning.

The TinCaps went 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Fort Wayne took the lead in the bottom of the third when Rymer Liriano roped a two-run double into the left-field corner. Dayton tied it in the top of the fourth on a two-out RBI single by Jaren Matthews.

The TinCaps retook the lead in the fourth. Tyler Stubblefield doubled to left-center and Tyrell followed by slicing a triple into the right-field corner to make it 3-1. Two batters later, Bryan Altman lifted a sacrifice fly to center to extend the lead to 4-1.

Dayton scored single runs in the fifth and sixth to make it a 4-3 game, then Tyrell hit a towering home run to left to give the TinCaps a 5-3 lead.

The Dragons' big inning started with back-to-back home runs by Ronald Torreyes and Dominic D'Anna which tied the score at 5-5. After a strikeout, the Dragons received a walk and an infield hit, then Matthews chopped a triple down the right-field line to drive in both runners and make it 7- 5. Jefry Sierra followed with an RBI infield hit to push the deficit to 8-5.

The TinCaps threatened in the eighth, putting runners at second and third but a line drive by Luis Domoromo was snared by third baseman David Vidal to end the rally.

Fort Wayne RHP Stiven Osuna (0-1) absorbed the loss. Dayton RHP Daniel Wolford (4-1) received the win and RHP Drew Hayes notched his 13th save.

The TinCaps dropped to 4-9 in the half, 34-48 for the season. Dayton improved to 10-3 since the all-star break, 45-35 for the year.

The TinCaps continue the three-game series against the Dragons (Class-A Cincinnati Reds) Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Parkview Field. TinCaps RHP Zach Cates (2-5) gets the ball against Dayton RHP Daniel Corcino (8-3).
