LANSING, Mich. - Casey Lawrence spun a masterful performance to lead the Lansing Lugnuts (7-6, 45-35) over intrastate rival West Michigan Whitecaps (7-6, 40-42) 11-0 on Wednesday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

With the win, Lansing is now 9-1 on the season against West Michigan.

Lawrence (Win, 6-8) went 8 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out six while walking none and holding the Whitecaps to five hits. Bryan Longpre came in to record the final out and preserve the shutout.

The Lugnuts knocked Whitecaps starter Brian Flynn (Loss, 1-1) out of the game in the second inning after working five total walks against the lefty and driving his pitch count too high. Former Michigan State Spartan Eli Boike added the finishing touch, lining a two-run single to center field to send Flynn to the showers.

Offensively, designated hitter Michael Crouse led a 14-hit attack with a two-run double and a three-run homer out of the leadoff spot. Marcus Knecht added three hits, including a two-run homer of his own; Bryson Namba singled twice, walked twice and scored four runs; and Jack Murphy went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs.

West Michigan's lone bright spot was a 2-for-4 performance from first baseman James Robbins.

The Lugnuts send lefty John Anderson (1-0, 1.88) to the bump to face Whitecaps right-hander Kevin Eichhorn (6-3, 3.29) on a "Jimmy Buffett Night" Labatt Blue Light Thirsty Thursday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
