Timke Honored by Carolina League Peers

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- In his first season with Winston-Salem, George Timke has earned the Carolina League's Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year award, as announced by the Professional Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society (PBSCCS). All Strength and Conditioning Coaches with the Carolina League participated in the voting process.

The New York native is concluding his fourth season with the White Sox system. He worked with short-season Great Falls in 2013 before spending the last two years with Low-A Kannapolis.

His professional coaching career began with the Kansas City Royals organization from 2009-12. This included a two-season stop in the Carolina League with Wilmington in 2010 and 2011. In his first season with the Blue Rocks, Timke claimed the circuit's Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year award.

Before his coaching career began, Timke played collegiate baseball at Dominican College and SUNY Orange while earning an associate's degree.
