After throwing four pitches to Andrew Ely, Williams was replaced by Jorge Pantoja, who then walked Ely to make it 4-0. Charcer Burks and Dewees followed with run-scoring to singles to cap a six-run first inning rally.

Still leading 6-0 in the second, Balaguert doubled to right before a ground out advanced him to third. After Rice was hit by a pitch, Spingola bounced into a fielder's choice to score Balaguert and make the score 7-0 Pelicans.

Down by seven in the bottom of the second, Potomac got a single from Raudy Read to start the inning before Austin Davidson walked. Three batters later, Matthew Page singled to right to plate both runners and make the tally 7-2.

The Pelicans responded in the top of the third when Burks doubled to left. After an out, Bote reached on a throwing error and then got to second on a passed ball. Balaguert followed by lining a single to center to score both runners and give Myrtle Beach a 9-2 lead.
