Portland Timbers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers will play their second straight game at home when the team plays host to the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, July 28. Beginning at 8 p.m. (Pacific), Saturday's match will be broadcast live on FOX 12 PLUS (KPDX) with local radio broadcasts on 750 AM/102.9 FM The Game (English) and La GranD 1150 AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).

Recent form

Heading into this weekend's game, the Timbers (8-3-7, 31pts) have not suffered a loss in league play since April 8, producing a 13-game unbeaten run during that stretch. Portland's 13-game unbeaten run over the span of three months is the longest active streak in MLS and the longest in the league in 2018. The Timbers set a club record for consecutive games without a loss in the 2013 campaign, producing a 15-game unbeaten streak. Most recently, the Timbers battled the Montreal Impact to a 2-2 draw at Providence Park on July 21, with forward Samuel Armenteros and midfielder Diego Valeri each scoring in the draw.

Facing Houston

Saturday's game marks the 14th all-time MLS meeting between Portland and Houston, and the first time both teams will face each other since the 2017 MLS Western Conference Semifinals. While facing the Dynamo at Providence Park, the Timbers have posted a 4-1-1 record in regular-season play, with Portland currently riding a five-game unbeaten streak at home, dating back to April 6, 2013.

Scouting Houston

Houston (7-7-6, 27pts) enters Saturday's match coming off a 3-1 home loss against the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, with Dynamo midfielder Tomás Martinez receiving a red card in the second half, making him unavailable for Saturday's match against the Timbers. The result against Philadelphia snapped a five-game unbeaten run across all competitions for Houston, dating back to July 3. Forward Mauro Manotas leads the team in goals scored (11), while midfielder Romell Quioto has the most assists on the team (11).

Next match

Following Saturday's match, the Timbers will continue their four-game homestand when the team plays host to the Philadelphia Union at Providence Park on Saturday, Aug. 4. Beginning at 8 p.m. (Pacific), the Aug. 4 match will be broadcast live on FOX 12 PLUS (KPDX) with local radio broadcasts on 750 AM/102.9 FM The Game (English) and La GranD 1150 AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
