Portland Timbers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - With the help of local community partners and the City of Portland, the Portland Timbers, Portland Thorns FC and T2 will present their eighth-annual Stand Together Week from July 28-Aug. 3. The comprehensive, week-long community initiative supports dozens of nonprofit projects and volunteer opportunities across the city, with the club once again extending the reach of the program this year through the efforts of a number of the club's regional supporters groups.

On Tuesday, July 9, the City of Portland and the state of Oregon officially proclaimed July 28-Aug. 3 as Stand Together Week.

Stand Together Week will consist of 32 volunteer projects and more than 1,000 volunteers, benefitting more than 25 organizations focused on youth and the environment across the Portland metro area. Fans are invited to volunteer and team up with mascot Timber Joey, Timbers, Thorns FC and T2 players and club staff on the various projects.

To sign up as a volunteer for one of the Stand Together Week projects or for more information on the overall initiative, please visit https://www.timbers.com/stand-together/stand-together-week.

Supported by presenting partners Alaska Airlines, Allstate, Coca-Cola, Daimler Trucks North America, Danner, Enterprise, FOX 12 Oregon, Hampton Lumber, New Relic and Providence Sports Medicine, Stand Together Week kicks off Sunday, July 28, helping Ecology in Classrooms and Outdoors at The Wetland Conservancy Cedar Mill with trail work, ivy and other invasive species removal and fence work among the improvements.

Each project will engage fans and community members and have a meaningful impact on the community. The volunteer opportunities affiliated with Stand Together Week, named after the Timbers' community outreach platform, include building homes, creating healing gardens, restoring local parks, pulling ivy, leading soccer clinics, cleaning children's books and more. A complete schedule of activities and events is listed below.

As the reach of Stand Together Week continues to grow in its eighth year, the club continues to expand the program by working with a number of regional supporters groups on related philanthropic projects, as each group strives to better its individual community.

As part of the extended outreach, the Montana Volunteers will put on a carnival to encourage and nurture participation in sports among young girls in Missoula on July 27. The Timbers Army: Covert Ops will be volunteering at Food Lifeline in Seattle on Aug. 3 to sort and repack food at local and mobile food pantries.

Since the inception in 2012, Stand Together Week participants have donated 18,920 hours of service at more than 226 events benefitting youth and the environment in the greater-Portland area. Nonprofits served include Active Children Portland, The Children's Book Bank, Growing Gardens, Harper's Playground and Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Foundation, among many others.
