MLS and WNBA head-to-head on Friday
MLS and WNBA went head-to-head on ESPN channels Friday night, and MLS came out on top by about 50k viewers. MLS appeared on the mothership channel, though, and it would be interesting to see a similar battle with the WNBA on ESPN and MLS on ESPN2, if only to see if it is mostly people just watching ESPN more than ESPN2. Or is MLS slightly more popular than the WNBA? MLS also had one of its strongest ESPN games on Sunday with 452k viewers.
Last Week's OSC Leagues Ratings Summary:
|7/10||9pm||MLBNet||AAA ASG||Not in Top 150|
|7/13||4pm||ESPN2||CFL||Not in Top 150|
|7/13||7pm||ESPN2||CFL||Not in Top 150|
|7/14||3pm||ESPNews||NWSL||Not in Top 150|
The AAA All Star game on MLB Network did not rate in the Top 150 shows of last Wednesday. A report on the 2017 broadcast on awfulannouncing.com said it received 125k total viewers in 2017 and 133k in 2016, so an audience in a similar range would likely be what is expected. Another website showed the 2013 audience was 82k.
Neither CFL game on ESPN2 Saturday made the Top 150 cable shows, while various SportsCenter replays, an NBA Summer League match (.05,234k) and a Pro Fighters League program at 12:30am (Friday night) all made the list. Not surprisingly, the NWSL game on low-watched ESPNews also didn't make the list.
