Dallas Wings News Release

The Dallas Wings (5-12) fell to the Phoenix Mercury (8-8) 69-64 at Talking Stick Resort Arena Wednesday, July 17. The Wings were led by Arike Ogunbowale's 14 points, the tenth straight time the rookie has scored 10 or more points this season. She also grabbed seven rebounds, a career high, and is the second Wings guard to tally seven or more boards this season.

Dallas led 34-31 at the half by holding Phoenix to just ten points in the second quarter and battled back and forth throughout the second half to lead by one 64-63 with less than 40 seconds to go before Brittany Griner hit a turn around jumper to put the Mercury up for good.

Imani McGee-Stafford got the starting nod for the second consecutive game and the fifth time this season, giving the team a season-high 11 boards, part of a 40-rebound effort by Dallas, the sixth time the team has reached that mark this season. Glory Johnson dropped in 10 points, the fourth time she has scored at least 10 points in her last five games since returning from Eurobasket, and Kaela Davis added nine points, all in the fourth quarter.

The Wings take on the Los Angeles Sparks tomorrow, Thursday, July 18 at Staples Center. Fans can watch the game on NBA TV at 2:30 pm CT.
