
Timbers Forward Jeremy Ebobisse Named Finalist for MLS Works Humanitarian of the Year

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Timbers forward Jeremy Ebobisse was named one of three finalists for the MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year award, Major League Soccer announced today.
Ebobisse, Los Angeles FC midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye and Toronto FC defender Justin Morrow are the three finalists to be nominated for the MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year award.
The Bethesda, Md., native was instrumental for the Black Players for Change and serves on the Executive Board of the organization which is working towards addressing the racial equality gap and social justices issues. Additionally, Ebobisse started the season with a robust plan to increase awareness of issues related to race, cultural identity, and social justice with his collaboration and campaign for both the Timbers and Thorns: Educate, Elevate, Engage. The campaign helped to benefit Kairos PDX, a local nonprofit working towards achieving the educational gap for historically underserved students. Ebobisse has also participated in videos to local organizations to uplift incarcerated youth of color, as well as local students challenged with learning obstacles during the global pandemic.
During the 2020 MLS regular season, Ebobisse is tied for the team lead in goals (8) and has registered two assists in 18 appearances (11 starts). Across all competitions for Portland in 2020, Ebobisse is tied for the team lead with nine goals and has notched three assists in 22 games played (15 starts). Notably, Ebobisse was named to the MLS is Back Tournament Best XI after tallying a team-best four goals in the tournament.
