
Columbus Crew SC's Luis Diaz Receives International Call-Up

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Luis Diaz has received an international call-up from the Costa Rica National Team. Costa Rica is set to play a friendly against Qatar on Friday, November 13 at Stadion Hartberg in Hartberg, Austria.
Diaz has earned three caps with the Costa Rica National Team since making his debut as a substitute in a friendly against Uruguay in 2019 (September 6). The 21-year-old midfielder's latest cap came in a friendly against the U.S. Men's National Team on February 1 of this year. During the 2020 MLS regular season, Diaz made 21 regular-season appearances (17 starts), providing three assists, including two game-winning helpers.
Upon his return from national team duty, Diaz will follow the necessary health and safety protocols set forth by Major League Soccer.
Crew SC's current roster features 11 players that have received a senior National Team call-up: Harrison Afful, Chris Cadden, Luis Diaz, Derrick Etienne, Jr., Waylon Francis, Jordan Hamilton, Jonathan Mensah, Darlington Nagbe, Krisztian Nemeth, Eloy Room and Gyasi Zardes.
The Crew recently wrapped-up the 2020 MLS regular season, finishing in third place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Black & Gold are set to host the New York Red Bulls in an Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One match on Saturday, November 21 [3:00 p.m. ET/ UniMas, TUDN, SportsTime Ohio, MLSsoccer.com (stream), MLS App (stream)].
