Timbers Drop 2-1 Result to FC Cincinnati on the Road

CINCINNATI - The Portland Timbers dropped a 2-1 result to FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium on Saturday evening. Dairon Asprilla scored in a second-straight match for the Timbers, tallying the lone Portland goal tonight. The Timbers will return home for a midweek match to open their 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup account, hosting Orange County SC in the third round on April 26; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) at Providence Park.

Asprilla in Action

Asprilla has scored in consecutive matches and joined Juan David Mosquera as the only two Portland players with multiple goals in the 2023 campaign thus far. In just four appearances (3 starts) this season, the Colombian international has recorded two goals and an assist, tallying five points. Notably, each of his goal contributions have come when the Timbers have been trailing in the match. The goal marked Asprilla's 10th in his last 18 appearances for Portland dating back to July 3, 2022, with three assists in that timeframe as well.
