Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA -Atlanta United returns to action Sunday when it hosts to Chicago Fire FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The match, presented by Novelis, is set to kick-off at 4:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on MLS Season Pass, FS1 and FOX Deportes, while fans can also tune-in to radio calls on Star 94 and La Mejor.
MLS Season Pass features every match of the regular season and Audi MLS Cup Playoffs with consistent match times and no blackouts. The service also features MLS Countdown, the live pre-game show before every match, live halftime reports, MLS 360 -- a fast-moving whip-around show that will provide live look-ins and analysis from all the key moments from every match, and MLS Wrap-up, the live post-game show. Fans in the U.S. and Canada also have the option to select their home team's radio for broadcast audio on the Apple TV app where available.
Atlanta holds a 6-4-1 all-time record against Chicago in MLS regular season play: 5-0-0 at home and 1-4-1 on the road. Atlanta won the last meeting at Mercedes-Benz Stadium 4-1 on May 7, 2022 while the teams played to a 0-0 draw at Soldier Field on July 30, 2022.
Atlanta will look to continue its unbeaten run at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2023 (3-0-1) where it has outscored opponents 9-3. When the team scores two goals or more at home, it holds a 40-1-9 record.
Atlanta has scored at least one goal in each of its first eight matches, extending the longest scoring steak in consecutive matches to start a season in club history.
The team leads MLS with four goals scored in the first 15 minutes of matches this season.
Caleb Wiley made his United States Men's National Team debut on Wednesday, coming on as a substitute in the Allstate Continental Clásico against Mexico.
Giorgos Giakoumakis scored in each of his first four MLS starts, becoming just the seventh player in MLS history to do so. Giakoumakis is the second player in club history to score in four consecutive matches, joining Josef Martínez, who accomplished the feat four times.
Chicago heads into Sunday in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1-4 record, coming off a 2-2 draw vs. Philadelphia Union in Matchday 8. Chicago is unbeaten in its last five matches (two wins, three draws) and is 1-1-0 on the road so far in 2023.
