Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades dropped a tight one to the Connecticut Tigers 5-4 on Friday evening, falling to 46-27 on the campaign. In a contest that stretched into the eleventh inning, the Tigers evened up the series after falling 6-2 just one night prior. Hudson Valley still maintains the best overall record in the New York-Penn League, and look to secure home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs with a win tomorrow. State College and Tri-City currently sit in a two-way tie for second best record in the league.

Nolan Gannon worked well in his eleventh start of the season, tossing five innings of two-run baseball. Gannon battled back from two runs in the top of the first, and cruised through the next four innings unharmed. In his last four starts, the righty has not surrendered more than two runs to any opponent. His record stays at 6-2, as his earned run average sits at 2.84.

The Renegades called upon four relief pitchers after the fifth inning, as Ryan Pennell followed Nolan Gannon. Pennell, Gerardo Reyes, Justin McCalvin and Mike Franco teamed up for the next six innings out of the bullpen. The four of them combined to give up no earned runs, with just two walks and four strikeouts.

Offensively, the Renegades scored four runs on nine hits in the outing. Alec Sole led the charge going 3-5 with a run scored, and has now hit safely in his last four games. Zach Marberry had the other multi-hit performance, finishing 2-5 at the plate with two singles. Hunter Lockwood, Bralin Jackson and Clayton Henning all had an RBI in the game, with Jackson and Henning each picking up an extra-base hit. Hudson Valley as a team has 5 triples in their last two contests.
