Lancaster Stormers News Release

Terry Tiffee found the perfect time to get back into the swing.

The Barnstormers third baseman belted a two-run homer in the top of the eighth, his first hit since returning from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, to erase a 2-1 deficit, and Lancaster went on to defeat the Camden Riversharks, 5-2, Friday evening at Campbell's Field.

Mike Koplove (3-2) struck out the first two batters he faced in the eighth before yielding a single to left by Fernando Seguignol. Tiffee sent a line drive to deep right that cleared a leaping effort at the wall by Ruddy Yan as the Barnstormers went up, 3-2. He had been 0-for-8 in the series, his first work with the Barnstormers since June 21. The long ball was his 11th in the Atlantic League.

Lancaster would add two more in the ninth inning. Iggy Suarez, who went 14-for-19 in Camden as a Barnstormer this season, rapped a single up the middle to start the inning. After failing to get a bunt down, Yaibel Tamayo hit a dribbler up the third base line. Koplove fielded the ball but made a rushed throw that bounced past first baseman Toby Hall into the bullpen as Suarez raced home to score. Tamayo crossed on a long double to center by Angel Flores for a three-run cushion.

That made life easier for Jonah Bayliss. It turned out he did not need the insurance. Bayliss set the side down in order in the bottom of the ninth for his 17th save.

Lancaster took a 1-0 lead in the second on a walk to Tiffee, double to left by Suarez and sacrifice fly by Tamayo against starter Carlos Vasquez.

Camden jumped ahead against spot starter Ross Peeples in the fourth. Noah Hall legged out a double to left center. One out later, the Barnstormers walked Alvin Colina intentionally after the first three pitches missed the strike zone. Danny Richar rapped a double inside the third base bag to score one run. Jonel Pacheco gave the Riversharks the lead, greeting Tim McNab with a sacrifice fly to left.

McNab and eventual winner T.J. Beam (3-3) faced only 11 batters in a combined 3 2/3 innings. Evan Englebrook allowed two baserunners in the eighth before coaxing a force play grounder out of Willis Otanez to end the threat.

The Barnstormers return home to host the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Saturday evening at 6:30. Matt Wright (5-10) will get the nod for Lancaster against right-hander Michael Schlacht. The game will be aired on Fox Sports Radio, 1490, WLPA and streamed live on sportsjuice.com and ibnsports.com.
