The Pawtucket Red Sox remain alone in first place in the North Division, despite the Memorial Day loss to the Norfolk Tides, 6-4. The Tides, managed by former Pawtucket skipper, Ron Johnson were just 8-14 on the road this season, before pulling off the rare win. Doug Mathis went five and a third innings, but got the loss. Mathis (3-3) surrendered three home runs and all six Tides runs. Zach Clark, making his 2012 triple-A debut was the winner, holding the PawSox to 2 runs in 6 innings.
Pawtucket got a two run homer from Nate Spears, his third in his last twelve at bats. Josh Kroeger homered with one out in the ninth to cap the scoring. Former PawSox catcher Luis Exposito had an RBI single for Norfolk. The series continues on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Former PawSox pitcher Miguel Gonzalez (2-1) goes for the Tides. He'll be opposed by Ross Ohlendorf (4-3).
