Rochester Red Wings News Release
J.R. House clubbed two home runs, leading the Norfolk Tides to an 8-1 win over the Red Wings Monday night at Frontier Field. Wings starter Glen Perkins tossed six strong innings, retiring 12 straight batters at one point. After the game, OF Josh Rabe and INF Alexi Casilla were called up to the Twins to replace injured players Jeff Cirillo and Rondell White.
The Tides opened up the scoring in the top of the second with a solo home run by House to left-center. Perkins settled down quickly, retiring 12 straight batters and leaving after six innings. Perkins threw 78 pitches - 50 for strikes - and allowed just two hits, while walking one and striking out two. Tides starter James Johnson tossed five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and struck out four.
In the Red Wings sixth, Rabe greeted reliever Brian Burres (1-0) with a line drive home run to left field to tie the game at 1-1.
Tristan Crawford, making his Triple-A debut, came in to relieve Perkins in the seventh and struck out the first batter he faced, Mike Cervenak. Three batters later, former Wing Terry Tiffee hit a two-run home run to put the Tides back on top 3-1.
In the eighth, Julio DePaula replaced Crawford (0-1) on the mound. The Tides added a run off DePaula on Brandon Fahey's RBI single.
Brian Bass entered the game in the ninth inning, and yielded House's second homer - part of a four-run ninth for Norfolk.
