
Contest Winners Announced

SYRACUSE (NY) - The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce the winners in the clubs Jackie Robinson Day Contest. Over 600 Central New York students in grades K-12 submitted entries into the contest in one of the three categories art, essay and poetry.
One first prize winner from each grade level was selected for each category. All first prize winners will receive a Chiefs hat and will be recognized on-field as part of the Jackie Robinson Day festivities before the Chiefs 2:00 PM doubleheader this Sunday, April 15th, versus the Ottawa Lynx. All entries received for the contest will be on display in the Hank Sauer Room during the game.
Winners in the art category are: Kindergarten ALANA EARLL (Franklin) and JOEL BRANTIS (Franklin); Grade 2 AHMED ALTHOUR (Hughes); Grade 3 SPENCER McCONNELL (Salem Hyde); Grade 4 ZACHORY WILCOX (Lemoyne); Grade 5 CALEB DUNCAN (Salem Hyde); Grade 6 BRENDA CASNAVE (Salem Hyde); Grade 7 RACHEL WENDELL (Liverpool MS); Grade 8 CRYSATLLINE ELDRIDGE (Liverpool MS); Grade 10 ALLISON GOSLEE (Henninger); Group Entries SOUTH SIDE AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE and MRS BRUMFIELD'S CLASS (McCarthy).
Winners in the essay category are: Grade 1 AARON FORNEY (Seymour); Grade 2 JASON HOFFMAN (Reynolds); Grade 4 ANDREW CARTER (Van Buren); Grade 5 CONOR GOLLEGLY (Most Holy Rosary); Grade 6 NIA BROOKS (Grant); Grade 7 TORIA HERD (Liverpool MS); Grade 8 DEREK MARKLE (Liverpool MS).
Winners in the poetry category are: Grade 2 JANIAH BROWN (McKinley Brighton); Grade 3 IAN QUINN (Holy Family); Grade 4 AJ SUSLOVIC; Grade 5 TESSA GLAVIN (Reynolds); Grade 6 ADAM LUBAN (HW Smith); Grade 7 KATY WARD (Liverpool MS); Grade 8 EMILY BRATT (Liverpool MS) and HALEY JOHNSON (Liverpool MS).
Grand Prize winners in each category will receive a night in a luxury suite for 12 people at the game of their choice. Grand Prize winners are; CONNOR GOLLEGLY (Essay); KATY WARD (Poetry) and CRYSATLLINE ELDRIDGE (Art).
Liverpool Middle School submitted the highest percentage of entries per student and will receive a visit from Chiefs players to their school.
