Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs have announced that plenty of tickets remain for the long awaited Bud Light Opening Night on Saturday when the Tri-City Americans visit the Spokane Arena. The first 3,000 fans through the gates, and all full season ticket holders in attendance, will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of The Black Book by Hagadone Directories.
Prior to Saturday the Chiefs will have to cross one more road game off the schedule before they open at home. Spokane will travel to Cranbrook to play the Kootenay Ice in their first of five match-ups on the season. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 5:30 with Comcast HockeyTonight on 1510 KGA. The puck is scheduled to drop at 6:00.
Saturday night, the Chiefs will open the home portion of their 26th season in the WHL against their rivals from Tri-City. It will be the 19th time in the last 21 years Spokane has opened at home versus the Americans. The Americans defeated Spokane on September 25th in the first game of the regular season 6-3. Matt Marantz, Levko Koper and Reid Gow scored for the Chiefs. Both teams finished with 28 shots.
Last year, the Chiefs earned an 8-4 series victory in their 12 game season series. They were 4-2 in both buildings. After dropping three of the first five, Spokane won five in a row and six of the last seven games. Newly appointed captain Tyler Johnson led Chiefs scorers with seven goals and 13 points. Levko Koper had five goals and 12 points in 12 games. Blake Gal had 2-4-6 in the series.
Saturday's game can also be seen live on SWX with Sam Adams and Kevin Sawyer. Airtime on SWX is 7:00.
Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK, TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT or at www.ticketswest.com.
