(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) - The Windy City Thunderbolts defeated the Evansville Otters 5-1 on Tuesday night at Standard Bank Stadium.

Windy City started the scoring in the bottom of the second inning against Evansville starter Jeremy Thorne. Following a throwing error, Nick Kuroczko hit an RBI single for the early advantage and Pascual Del Real followed with a bunt groundout that scored another run.

Down 2-0, Evansville cut the deficit in half as Jamar Walton homered to right field off Windy City starter Matt Jernstad.

But the Thunderbolts rallied again in the bottom of that fourth inning only to come up short of scoring a run. On a wild pitch, Chase Porch broke for the plate but a flip from catcher Billy Killian to pitcher Jeremy Thorne was able to nab the runner at the plate and end the inning.

Windy City, however, rallied again in the 5th inning for another three runs. Up 2-1, the Thunderbolts took advantage of two defensive errors by Evansville and hit a sacrifice fly to increase the lead ahead to four runs.

Starter Matt Jernstad then maintained the 5-1 lead over the final innings as he threw the complete game for the Thunderbolts in the victory.

Windy City is now 6-4 following the win as Evansville is currently 1-9 this season.

The Otters and Thunderbolts will play the middle contest of this three game series tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m.
