LAST WEEK'S GAMES -

Tuesday, January 28th

Denver at Wichita, 4-3 W (OT)

-Wichita spotted Denver a two-goal advantage before tying the game in the second period with goals from Tomas Klempa and Mike Wilson. Garett Bembridge scored at 6:57 to re-gain the lead for the Cutthroats. Ian Lowe put home a rebound with the extra attacker and the Thunder forced overtime. The Thunder got the game-winner on a power play from Andrew Martens at 1:14 with a slap shot from the deep slot.

Friday, January 31st

Allen at Wichita, 5-4 W

-Tomas Klempa and RG Flath tallied goals for the Thunder in the first eight minutes of the game before Allen got one back from Greger Hanson to make it 2-1. Jesse Dudas scored with a seeing-eye wrister from the left boards to give the Thunder a 3-1 lead after one. Ian Lowe increased the Thunder advantage to 4-1 with a goal in the second period. Allen rallied back with three goals late but the Thunder held on for the 5-4 win.

Saturday, February 1st

Wichita at Allen, 4-2 W

-After falling down 1-0, Mike Wilson and Matt Robinson hurdled the Thunder to a 2-1 advantage in the second period. Allen scored late with a Daniel Tetrault blast at 19:39. Erick Lizon grabbed the lead back in the third with his second of the year at 10:57 and Robinson recorded his second of the night for a two-goal lead and Wichita held on for the 4-2 win.

SUCCESS AGAINST THE TOP - Wichita improved to 3-1-1 against the Allen Americans with a weekend sweep this past Friday and Saturday. The Thunder is a combined 8-3-1 against Allen and Missouri, but 0-5-0 against Rapid City this season. Allen, Missouri and Rapid City are tied at the top of the standings with 54 points. Rapid City and Missouri have the edge due to winning percentage (.675) while the Americans are at .659. The Thunder host Missouri Friday and Sunday this week and still have match-ups against both teams looming down the stretch.

THREE PACK - Wichita will have its sixth three-in-three situation of the season this weekend. The Thunder is 9-4-2 so far when playing three games in three nights and has gone 6-0-0 in its last two three-game weekends. The Thunder will have two more of these situations down the stretch in back-to-back weeks in the middle of March before heading to Arizona to finish the season. Wichita's wins this past week also have given the team a three-game win streak.

AFTER REGULATION SUCCESS - Wichita has won its last five games that have gone past regulation. In fact, the Thunder has gone to overtime or a shootout in four of the last 10 contests and has gone 4-0 in that span. The last overtime defeat came at the hands of Tulsa on November 16th and the last shootout loss was Opening Weekend against Allen at home on October 19th.

HOT HAND - Matt Robinson has had the hot hand as of late, registering a pair of goals on Saturday night. He's found the back of the net in four of the last six games. His two-goal night on Saturday gives him 20 for the season, which leads the team in goals. It's also the fifth time in his pro career that he has reached the 20-goal mark and the third time he has performed that feat in Wichita. He is tied in seventh place in the league in goals scored.

BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL - Wichita has three of the top six scoring defensemen in the league. Andrew Martens and Jesse Dudas have been in a battle for the top spot over the last several weeks. Martens sits in first place with 35 points (7g, 28a), adding a goal and an assist over the weekend. Dudas is right behind him with 33 points (12g, 21a) scoring in Friday night's contest. Mike Wilson has propelled himself into sixth place with 27 points (8g, 19a) and had a three-point night on Saturday at Allen. He is riding a six-game point-streak with nine points in that span (3g, 6a).

HELPING HAND - Jon Booras has recorded assists in his last four contests (6a). He leads the team in points and is tied for fifth in the CHL in assists (34).

PRODUCING - Tomas Klempa has points in last four outings (3g, 3a) after collecting an assist on Saturday. Since returning to the line-up on January 3rd, he has only missed the score-sheet three times. The Piestany, Slovakia native has 13 points in 12 games (6g, 7a) and four multi-point games.

THUNDERBOLTS... Jon Booras is ninth in the league with 49 points and tied for seventh in power play assists (13)...Nick McParland is tied for eighth in rookie scoring with 18 points (6g, 12a)...Jesse Dudas is tied for sixth in power play goals (7)...Andrew Martens is tied for third in power play assists (17)...Wichita is second in shots allowed per game (30.02)...Wichita is averaging 15.67 PIM per game, which is the second lowest in the league...Wichita is 8-3-0 when leading after one...Wichita is 9-4-1 when leading after two...Wichita is 5-8-1 when trailing after two...Wichita is 4-1-2 on the road on Saturday nights this season...Wichita finished January 4-2-0 at home and 7-4-0 overall...

Wichita doesn't play again until Friday night when the Missouri Mavericks come to town for the first of two games on the weekend starting at 7:05 p.m. Wichita will travel to Tulsa on Saturday night and then will return home Sunday afternoon to host the Mavericks at 5:05 p.m.
