Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Sundogs Keep Rolling- The Arizona Sundogs (20-18-3) have earned a point in every game since New Year's Eve going 10-0-2 over that stretch but their three-game sweep over the first-place Rapid City Rush (27-13-0) may be most impressive. Arizona outscored the Rush 13-5 over the three games and never trailed. Forward Kevin Baker scored the game winning goal in all three games finishing with five strikes and an assist in the three-game series. His efforts earned the Oakley Player of the Week award. In net, Andrew Engelage stopped 92 of 97 shots (.948 save percentage) earning himself the Oakley Goaltender of the Week award (third time this season he has won the weekly honor). Arizona will host Brampton (22-19-3) in a three-game series this week beginning on Wednesday and will look to extend their overall five-game win streak.

2.) Crowded at the Top- Both the Allen Americans (25-12-4), the #1 team in the latest Sher-Wood Power Rankings, and the Rapid City Rush (27-13-0) struggled through last week failing to win a game. Allen dropped back-to-back decisions to the Wichita Thunder (19-19-4) and the Rush fell to the Arizona Sundogs (20-18-3) in three straight games. Meanwhile, the Missouri Mavericks (26-12-2) have won four of their last five games joining the Americans and Rush in a three-way tie at the top of the Berry Conference with 54 points. The Americans and Mavs will go head-to-head on Saturday this week (Tuesday's game in Missouri has been postponed to 2/25). Rapid City heads to Denver (20-13-9) for three straight games versus their rivals.

3.) Trade Deadline Comes and Goes- The CHL's Trade Deadline came and went on Monday (3:00 PM CT) with very little activity. Keep up with all the news and analysis from the deadline at the CHL Trade Tracker, powered by MinorLeagueHockeyReport.com. At the end of the day, only the Rapid City Rush made any additions trading for Anthony Perdicaro from the St. Charles Chill in exchange for future considerations. Perdicaro was not on the Chill's active roster as he was placed on team suspension several weeks ago but a very serviceable forward he can be scoring eight goals with 10 assists and 89 penalty minutes in 27 games. One of his best pro seasons was 2010-11 with the Rush (10-7=17, 109 PIMS in 41 gms).

By the Numbers

877: The number of points Missouri Mavericks forward Sebastien Thinel has recorded in his CHL career moving past Hall of Famer Doug Lawrence into fourth place on the league's all-time points list. Thinel had three assists over the weekend and now sits one point behind Jason Duda (878) for third place on the list. Joe Burton (985) and Travis Clayton (982) rank first and second. Thinel leads the Mavs in scoring this season with 12 goals and 40 assists.
