THUNDER SALVAGE 1 - Wichita hit the road for the final two games of its three-game road swing this past week. On Friday night, The Thunder made a visit to Adam Russo's old stomping grounds in Moline, IL. Wichita fell behind three separate times to Quad City, but managed to send the game into overtime as Andrew Martens scored with a little over three minutes remaining in regulation. After five minutes of an overtime session, Wichita put its undefeated record on the line in the shootout (4-0) for the first time since November 5th (@ Missouri). Brandon Marino scored for Quad City in round three, but Matt Summers tied it for the Thunder in round five and the two teams went to extra shooters. Mickey Lang scored in round six for the Mallards while Aaron Davis was denied by Quad City goalie David Brown to give the Mallards a 5-4 win. It was the first loss for the Thunder this season in a shootout, but Wichita did earn a point and moved within two of Allen for first-place in the Berry Conference. On Sunday night, Wichita traveled to Tulsa for the second-consecutive year on Christmas to face the Oilers. Wichita jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Alex Bourret (12) and Matt Robinson (11) scored for the Thunder. However, Wichita gave up four goals in the third period as the Oilers scored three times in a span of three minutes and won 5-2. It was the Thunder's final trip to Tulsa this season as the final three meetings will be in the Air Capital.

RED HOT - Alex Bourret has been tremendous for Wichita this season. Currently, the Drummondville, PQ native is riding an eight-game point scoring streak (7g, 9a16) and a three-game goal scoring streak as he added a goal in both games over the weekend. Bourret sits alone in second-place behind Rapid City's Jesse Schultz for the scoring lead with 36 points (12g, 24a).

HOME ICE ADVANTAGE- Through 15 home games, Wichita leads the league with 12 wins on home ice. Traditionally, Wichita has been strong in the Air Capital, going 344-233-57 all-time. Wichita also leads the league with 17 wins and is in third in winning percentage (.673). Wichita has outscored its opponents 51 to 35 at home this season.

TAKING THE LEAD- Andrew Martens had a productive weekend for the Thunder. With Daniel Tetrault out of the line-up, Martens logged a lot of ice time and took advantage. On Friday night, Martens (8g, 14a) scored twice for the first time this season and moved into a first-place tie with Tulsa's Jeff Terminesi (5g, 17a) for scoring by a defenseman with 22 points. The Friendswood, TX native also sits in second overall in plus/minus (+17) while teammate Jarred Mohr is in third (+15).

BACK IN THE LINE-UP- 12-year veteran Daniel Tetrault is close to reaching the top of the mountain for a Thunder defenseman. Tetrault tied former Thunder defenseman Sean O'Reilly for the franchise lead (169) on Tuesday December 13th against Fort Wayne. Tetrault assisted on Wichita's third goal scored by Matt Robinson at the 13:11 mark of the second period. O'Reilly played 311 games from 1997-02, while Tetrault has played 263 games in a Thunder uniform. Tetrault returned to the line-up this past Sunday against Tulsa after missing four straight games with an injury.
