
Thunder Wash Away Baysox Winning Streak

Trenton, NJ - Amidst on and off rain on Saturday night, the Bowie Baysox (18-21) had their four-game winning streak snapped when they fell to the Trenton Thunder (22-20) 6-1.
Caleb Joseph got the scoring started in the second inning with his second home run in as many nights to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Thunder took the lead. Kyle Roller drew a walk to start the inning and Slade Heathcott singled. Neil Medchill then followed with an RBI single to knock in Roller and even up the game. The next batter, Ali Castillo, hit a sacrifice fly to score Heathcott and make the score 2-1.
The Thunder added two more runs in the third inning. Jose Pirela led off with a double, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball. Tyler Austin then walked and went to second on a balk. Roller then reached on an error by Brandon Waring that allowed Austin to score and make the score 4-1.
In the fourth inning, the Thunder struck for two more runs. Castillo drew a lead off walk, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single by Ramon Flores. After a Pirela infield single, Austin knocked in the second run of the inning with an RBI single to make the score 6-1.
Nik Turley got the win going six innings and allowing a run on one hit with six strikeouts and two walks.
Zach Clark got the loss going 3.1 innings and allowing six runs, five earned on six hits with three strikeouts and five walks.
The Baysox and Thunder will wrap up the three-game set tomorrow when RHP Devin Jones (1-2, 5.34) takes on RHP Zach Nuding (1-5, 3.24) at 1:05 p.m.
