New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - John Tolisano belted a home run and drove in three runs to back superb pitching by the Fisher Cats (21-22) in a 5-0 win over the New Britain Rock Cats (20-22). The victory moves the Fisher Cats into fourth place over the Rock Cats, and gives them a shot at the series sweep on Sunday afternoon.
Sean Nolin (W; 2-0) was the primary benefactor of Tolisano's offensive output in the middle game of the series. The starter worked six shutout innings, extending his personal scoreless streak to 13.1 innings on the season. He was given a 1-0 lead to work with when Tolisano plated Kevin Ahrens with an RBI groundout in the third inning.
Nolin allowed just four hits, striking out five before turning it over to Scott Gracey, who was added to the roster before the game. Gracey tossed a six-pitch seventh inning before Tolisano cranked his two-run homer in the eighth. An RBI single from Clint Robinson later in that inning pushed the Fisher Cats lead to 4-0.
New Hampshire added one more run in the ninth thanks to a two-out single from Kevin Pillar. Gracey turned the ball over to Tommy Hottovy for the ninth with the lefty striking out the side to lock down the win.
The series comes to an end on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. with the Fisher Cats looking for the sweep. The Fisher Cats are slated to start Marcus Walden (2-4, 2.96) against New Britain righty B.J. Hermsen (1-3, 4.21). Radio coverage begins at 1:15 p.m. with Tom Gauthier on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.
