Kalamazoo, MI- Despite Kalamazoo out shooting Bloomington 44-21, it was quality not quantity of the scoring chances that determined a 6-4 PrairieThunder victory Friday night at Wings Stadium.
Former NHL-er Jarrod Skalde (3rd) broke the lid off of a scoreless contest with a blast from the blue line 12:21 into the first period.
Early in the second period, Leo Thomas skated in unabated and beat K-Wings goaltender Jeremy Symington with a back hand to extend the Thunder lead to 2-0.
Kalamazoo cut the deficit in half later in the period on a rebound tally from Dan Tessier (5th). The strike gives Tessier three goals in his last three games and capped off a period in which the K-Wings dominated statically, out shooting Bloomington 14-2.
Putting the game on ice, Bloomington answered the bell in the third scoring four unanswered goals, including the second of the night for Skalde (4th) and the eventual game-winner from Bobby Kukulka (5th).
Kalamazoo made a switch between the pipes after Bloomington's fourth goal, replacing Symington with Brad Smith.
Symington finished the evening stopping nine shots and giving up four goals in 42:45. Suffering the loss in relief, Smith (2-4-0-1) turned aside six shots and allowed two goals.
Attempting a comeback, Kalamazoo finished the contest scoring three goals, including two from Nick Bootland (21st, 22nd). Bootland's first goal was his 200th of his career and increased his point streak to K-Wings and IHL season high 13-games.
Assisting on the Bootland's first goal was Kory Karlander, who like Bootland, upped his point streak to an IHL season high 13 games, as well as extended his assist streak to league best 12 games.

Concluding their three-game home stand, the K-Wings will host the first place Fort Wayne Komets tomorrow Saturday, January 12th at 7:30 p.m. on Lenny's Sub Shop Night.
Single game tickets for the entire K-Wings 2007-08 home schedule are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Tickets range from $9-$14. Prices for K-Wings games will increase $1 for premium game nights (Orange Ice, Pink Ice, Green Ice & New Years Eve). Fans are also encouraged to purchase their game tickets in advance, as they will save $1 per ticket by getting their seats prior to a game day.
