Fury shut out by Komets

FORT WAYNE - The Fort Wayne Komets struck two times in the third period and goalie Kevin Reiter stopped all 15 shots he faced in net for Fort Wayne, as the Komets shut out the visiting Muskegon Fury 3-0.

The Komets struck first, 11 minutes and 20 seconds into the first period. Evgeny Saidachev fired a hard slap shot from the right face-off circle that Fury goalie Isaac Reichmuth kicked aside, but the rebound came out to Colin Chaulk, who buried the puck into an open net. On the play, Reichmuth suffered an undisclosed injury and could not get back to his feet. Clayton Pool would relieve Reichmuth in net.

After a scoreless second period, Fort Wayne scored 2:10 into the period on a goal by Terry Marchant, with assists to Brandon Warner and P.C. Druin. At 5:31 into the third, Konstantin Shafranov put the game out of reach with a top shelf goal over the left hand of goalie Pool, giving the Komets a 3-0 lead .

Reichmuth stopped eight of the nine shots he faced in net for the Fury, while Pool stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced. The Fury fall to 16-14-2-0 on the season. Muskegon returns to the ice tomorrow at home against Flint. It's throwback jersey night at L.C. Walker Arena, as the Fury will sport the Muskegon Lumberjacks jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
