Flint Generals News Release

FLINT, MI - Perani Arena and Event Center will be rocking tonight as a standing room only crowd is expected when the Flint Generals host the Port Huron Icehawks at 7:30 pm.

The Generals look to snap a two game winless streak against the Icehawks. The last two games between the two teams have both been very exciting with the Icehawks winning both games in Flint.

Port Huron has the best road record in the International Hockey League, while the Generals are among the best teams on home ice. The Generals trail the Fort Wayne Komets by four points for first place.

It's the home debut of Darren McCarty for the Generals as he makes his return to professional hockey. The three-time Stanley Cup Champion was in the line-up on Wednesday morning, but the Fury spoiled his debut beating the Generals 5-4 in a shootout in front of more than 3,500 Muskegon area school children.

The Generals also received great news late Thursday when it was announced that forward Jaroslav Cesky has been cleared by the IHL to play. Cesky had missed time due to immigration issues.

Prior to tonight's game there will be a ceremony to honor Jason Cirone who played in his 1000th career professional game last Sunday.

The Generals are still without defenseman Brett Westgarth who is on loan to the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.

Fans can listen to the game on Unforgettable 1470 WFNT beginning with the Generals Pre-Game Report Protected by Teachout Security at 7:10 pm. Denis J. Puska has the play-by-play call at 7:30 pm. The broadcast is available on line at www.flintgenerals.com and video coverage is provided by the B2 Networks and a high speed internet connection is required in order to view the game.
